Alternator Replacement on 2012-2015 Honda Civic
Resolve charging system warning lights. Guide on swapping the alternator on front-mounted accessory assemblies. Mapped specifically for 2013 Honda Civic Si (2.4L I4 (K24Z7)).
Step 1
Disconnect Battery and Belt
Disconnect the battery negative terminal. Rotate the serpentine belt tensioner clockwise to slacken the belt and slide it off the alternator pulley.
🔧 Fastener: 19mm Belt Tensioner • Torque Spec: None
Step 2
Remove Harness and Mounting Bolts
Remove the positive charging cable (10mm nut under boot) and unclip the electrical connector. Remove the two alternator mounting bolts.
🔧 Fastener: 12mm Alternator Mounting Bolt • Torque Spec: 33 ft-lbs
Step 3
Swap the Assembly
Slide the bad alternator out. Fit the new alternator, hand tighten mounting bolts, plug in cables, and reinstall the serpentine belt.
